I recently joined a racing team in my University. The team is called Redback Racing which races in Formula SAE Australia. Formula SAE is a racing competition for university level students where students from all around the world compete their racing cars in various areas such as Fuel Economy, Endurance Racing, Manufacturing Methods and etc. This Thursday I followed the team to Bankstown Airport, where Top Gear Australia is filmed.

However, our main objective at Top Gear Australia Studio is not to watch the filming. We are there to actually get filmed and publicize our Formula SAE-A Redback team. We’re asked to fit 20 engineers into the new Honda Odyssey, and then have Warren Brown along with a volunteer drive the car. So in total, 22 people in a Honda Odyssey, how hard can it be?

We were at first greeted by some sort of assistant production manager or something. We talked about the things we’re supposed to do that day and sort things out.

After awhile we all went into the studio and examine the Honda Odyssey.

When everything is set, it’s rehearsal time and I nearly broke a spine. If you’re wondering who are those in yellow, they are the Sunswift team who works on solar powered car of UNSW. The funny thing is somebody even wrote “Sunswift sucks” on top of the dusty Honda Odyssey.

The rehearsal was extremely fun, we cramped into the car for about 4 times in total? And that was a new Honda Odyssey. I haven’t got a picture of how low the car actually go but I some of the working crews there are getting all worried of the car. I wonder what will happen to the suspension …

Anyways, this part will be aired on Top Gear Australia 2 Episode 4 I think. So be sure to watch it.

I know many of my family and friends have been reading this blog and is disappointed by all the laptop disassembling posts I made. Well, here’s a post about my life.

12th of March marks the turning point (in a socializing way) of my university life, thanks to my aunt who had helped me to move all my things to a room I rented just about 250 metres away from UNSW. Living in Australia has never been so joyful before!

What are more interesting is when school finishes. But before I continue on, I must first announce that I have found a mom here, no you did not read it wrongly, I said a mom. She’s a girl of course and she’s from Indonesia. I was expecting things like a fierce glance or some hitting that feels like massaging when I first called her mom, but she played it off with “I don’t even need to go through all the hassle to have a kid, how good is that?” and called me “小孩子” (little kid). So I’m going to call her mom from now on.

Well yeah, so I went shopping with my mom, my Indonesian mom, and it went out well. At least I still have a mom to guide and bully in Australia. Haha. She cooked dinner for me too but even though it wasn’t as good (and healthy haha) like the food my real mom used to cook, however I was extremely thankful for what she did.

My Indon mom is a christian and she goes to some sort of bible studies every Friday. I didn’t follow (well maybe not this week) so I went to my friend, Jayson’s house. I was supposed to have seconds but I was too full so I decided not to eat over. I end up playing dota at his place until Kaiyi suggested we play pool at Eugene’s place, called New College Village located right opposite UNSW.

Reaching there was a surprise, there is even a pingpong table! So I played pingpong with a few … black dudes then played pool with black dudes again, named Wangari and Zack. Haha, it was great fun though, knowing new people. And I have a feeling that this does not stop here …

Chinese New Year Eve

After “Tuan Yuan Fan”, eating the Hainan Chicken I cooked with my dad’s guidance (It’s good I’m telling you), we gathered at Dao’s house like every other New Year Eve for fireworks. And like every other New Year Eve, Dao’s dad always supply us this …

Nobody wants to light that up. So my bro had to do the honour of lighting that box of fireworks. Even though the paper said it’s legal to play fireworks during the first 2 days of Chinese New Year, however, it feels like the only place that has fireworks shooting up the sky was Dao’s house, unlike years ago where the sky were filled with fiery lights.

One of the main reasons would be the kids nowadays have no idea how to light up a lighter. LOL, look at De, he needs a degree from my bro on how to light up fireworks.

The day at Dao’s house ended up with Yiwen and Shuwen texting their boyfriends off and Dewen eating a pile of choc banana cake all by himself (LOL) and a bunch of us watching “Titanic”. He said the people dropping off the Titanic ship was funny and he was laughing when people were struggling to save their lives.

The night is always young so instead of sleeping, I went to play snooker with Cx, Kx and Ch. Damn Cx pawned us.

Chinese New Year Day 1

Boring day … all because of Astro and that stupid drama my mom was watching. Only until 8 PM we get to leave house to Dao’s house for dinner.

I gambled with a bunch of rebellious cousins(kids) at Dao’s house and got pawned shit broke. My parents’ Angpao was worth nothing after we finished gambling.

After that awful lost I went out to Capri with friends. Chatted for a few hours, finished my expensive yet crappy Mocha and off we go to Yikleng’s house.

Chinese New Year Day 2

Boring! Damned Astro magneted my mom again, same drama! We went out to Dao’s house for dinner at 7PM that day. I was bored there because everybody had their stuff to do. If not they would be texting their boyfriends away LOL.

I can’t stand the nothingness at Dao’s house so I went off to find my friends, we end up in the snooker center again. I won 1 round and lost the second round by chance to Kx. Ch was struggling to earn points, Haha.

After that we went to McD to meet up with Cx. The ACS bunch … Wilson, EeChng, Tiaso, SoPoh and Chenghaw showed up as well. And like any other CNY day, we played Blackjack to waste time.

Gambling without money was never so fun before. Because I was giving people blackjacks and busting myself at the end, EeChng and Tiaso was challenging and laughing the ass off me.

The ACS bunch left early and left me a meeting place at Giddy’s house. At McD, we finished playing and I went straight to Giddy’s house to gamble waste time until 4 AM before going home to sleep at 5.

Chinese New Year Day 3

The third day was always the best day, because I get to go and visit my teachers and get extra angpao from them. The rendezvous point was at my home. 9 people showed up and took my mom’s angpao. Ysyee kept complaining about the mosquitoes bite on her legs. Haha, I guess she’ll be the first to die if vampires exist.

Next we went to Lao Lao’s house. Gosh her sons were really hyper. Our visit was like a moving theme park into her house. The kids would play with us and go hyper over everything, even at the food!

Htling’s house was the second house to go and we updated ourselves with schooling news there. Pn. Kong’s house was the third to go. I saw my dentist there, which I have no idea how is he related to my teacher. We ate really nice otak-otak from Muar at her house.

After the visits, it’s already 7 something and we went back home to get ready to go to ChuYin’s house. At 9 I reached there and gamble, lost about 10 bucks @&#^*.

We went to Kokhui for supper because the girls want to eat there. Our table was paid by Cx and I pay for Cx’s drink LOL!

We went to Fooshen’s house to gamble and I lost again @&#^*. I end up pawning noobs in dota that day.

Chinese New Year Day 4

Day 4 was quite fun. We went to karting with and started with the 4 stroke engine. It was extremely fun fighting for places with Cx, Hansiang and my brother.

After the race they all got high and opted for the 2 stroke engine. We started off with Ahkuang and me leading. I overtook Ahkuang but Cx was flying behind me so he passed me on the straights.

I seriously can’t believe how much I was sweating then. All my focus was poured into the race and it was like trance mode at some point.

Well … 2 stroke engine is overrated at that circuit. I wouldn’t pay 10 bucks extra for the extra difference in speed.

After that racing, the next meeting place was Fooshen’s house again. I was seriously in a bit of phobia that day about gambling. So I only invested only 2 bucks on Cx. Unfortunately, his luck wasn’t transferrable so I lost 2 bucks. And now I’m 100% phobia of gambling already.

I watched them gamble and kepo a little bit until Cx started to pawn the rest of them shitless. Cx ended up 150 bucks richer at the end of the day and he treated us to McD. Even the staff there wanted a piece of Cx’s richness, so he was charged 17 extra for the lack of competency of the McD restaurant.

I complained to the manager, but nothing can be done because the invisible contract between the restaurant and Cx was already made when Cx paid extra willingly without discussing with us.

In a Nutshell

Overall, I think this Chinese New Year is extremely boring, with the lack of relatives to crap with and I kept losing money nonstop. This CNY is no fun!

First thing first, Happy New Year to all AhWee.com readers! Like most of you out there, I had a fantastic New Year Eve celebration watching fireworks display at Sydney Harbour Bridge!

A little bit of information about the Fireworks – The Australian government spent 5 million AUD on the 12 minutes of fireworks and there are millions of viewers from all around the globe watching it at areas around Sydney Habour Bridge.

We (My cousins and I) were at end of the L-shaped jetty right beside Wendy’s Secret Garden (I have no idea if that’s the real name or not) which you can find from this Wikimapia link.

With Blues Point (The place I took the Harbour Bridge Night Scene shot) closed due to massive amount of people there at the time we arrived at Milsons Point train station, the jetty was the best I could find. The view wasn’t too shabby though.

As you have read, there are a 3 freaking hours of interval time between fireworks. My cousin and I decided to play “Chor Dai Dee” together. As the people around us started to notice that we’re playing cards, we invited them to play as well. They are Alex, a migrated Malaysian, Timo from Singapore and a Hong Kong Ahma(granny).

We played until 11:45 PM and something happened, some people decided to watch fireworks in the sea. So they jumped inside, I was dumbfounded by what Australians are capable of doing. Then 15 minutes later, the fireworks started.

Going back home was the worst part. We were stuck inside a tunnel cramped with thousands of people rushing to the train station. This is what we call Human Traffic Jam. We were cramped for an hour there and weird things happened – Lesbians hugging and kissing each another, people playing drums to get everybody high, some drunk lady vomited in the middle of the freaking crowd, there’s another girl I saw, vomited but acted like nothing happened. I need to learn some skills from her Haha! The only thing good about Human Traffic Jam, I can look at local pretty girls.

Wha, I can’t believe it has been so long since I last written a post. Time flashes pass me in just a blink of an eye. Having said that, the time that had just gone by did not go wasted. As you can see, this website had undergone some slight changes ever since my holiday started at November 12th.

I have created an archive page. In there it links to all the posts I have written before. I spent days writing the PHP and MYSQL script just to extract the database information and styling the page. Hopefully it will be useful if you want to read my long lost posts. LOL

Contact Me Form

Previously I was using Cform, a plugin created for wordpress that put me at risks of corrupting my database if I don’t delete it properly. So I have written my own feedback form that would never compromise my sweat and blood (the database if you don’t understand). Spent days writing the form as well because these entire PHP thing is seriously too new to me.

Lastly, my own picture gallery, I’ve received some feedbacks that my readers love looking at pictures. Well, here you go. Besides, I’ve already bought myself a new camera, it would be a waste if I don’t share the pictures I taken with you guys, even though it’s not going to be DSLR pretty, but I think it will be worth a look when it is done.

I have already spent 2 weeks implementing this and to no avail, I have not progressed far. I have styled everything to my liking but the PHP languages used here is seriously too hard for me to comprehend. I am basically stuck here. Haha! Any PHP programmers want to lend a hand here?

While I was studying for it a few days ago, I literally had more than 10 Wikipedia pages opened for some explanation that would allow me to understand the subjects in more detail. I looked at the top of the page and I saw …

Yup, the donation meter. I had everything cramped in my mind while I was studying, examination, dreams, love, sex fantasies and whatever that was making me “koo koo”. So I clicked on the meter, wondering where will it bring me. While the page was loading, I was fantasizing things like people serving me free wine in order to persuade me to donate. I told myself, “James, go back to studies, nobody is going to feed you wine if you fail your examination” and started hitting my head for awhile.

As I looked back to the notes I put on the table, there’s a sudden urge that formed a magnetic field between my eyes and the Wikimedia donation page. And there you guessed it, I was back at the Wikimedia donation page.

Then I looked at the top of the page, the quote:

I was dumbfounded, I realized that I spent all my time in Wikipedia without contributing a cent nor knowledge to the world. My Devil mind said “bullshit” but my Angel mind said ” look at the 10 Wikipedia tabs on your browser”.

Then I saw

I was succumbed by the quote and I pressed the “donate” button hoping that both of them(the Devil and the Angel) would shut up and allow me to concentrate on my studies. It directed me to my Paypal and I donated, just like how I used to donate blood. Here’s the proof of the transaction.

After the donation. The minds stopped fighting but I was still a bit disturbed by what I had done. I freaking donated! WTF? By the way, as far as the Wikimedia donation is concerned, it helped a bit. I did feel the ease and the concentration was coming back. However, I still was unable to concentrate 100%.

Oh and thank God the exam wasn’t as hard as expected. Maybe it is the donation.

When I woke up from the deep sleep, my teammate Jai invited the whole group to go out. And like we planned months ago, the plan was to go and play snooker! Haha! I was pumped up! It has been months since I last played snooker.

We went to Wembley Snooker Centre. Even though it said “snooker”, they have only 1 snooker table in there. The rest were pool tables. Damn I was pissed. But when I was in there, I could not resist not hitting, it’s either I hit the cue ball or I’ll start hitting somebody. LOL

So we played 2 hours of pool. I only won 1 out of … 10+ rounds. Ish, I swear I am going to pawn all of my teammates in the future. My head was giving me this striking pain after snooker and I come to a conclusion that snooker extracts more mental power than mathematics.

Anyways, back to topic, it was quite late that time but we haven’t ate our dinner. So we went to Seoul-Ria Korean Restaurant. At first it was a Korean waiter who has NO IDEA how to speak English. I was pissed and I asked him in broken English to go and get somebody who knows how to speak English. It was a busy restaurant there, so after a few minutes we got ourselves a waitress. We kept her busier for 15 minutes with recommendations on what should we eat. She seems a little pissed … but who are we to give a damn about that? HAHAHA! It’s her job.

We ordered 2 dishes.

Damn I still can’t believe it. In TAR College, I hang out with guys, in UNSW, I HANG OUT WITH GUYS AGAIN!

Never in my life I entered an empty cinema before. But a week ago, when I was entering Hoyts’ (Australian Cinema) largest hall for Wall-E, the hall was filled with people air.

Shit, in Malaysia, we had to book our own seats man. In Australia, it’s free seating and yet nobody wants to watch. Maybe Wall-E is a kiddy’s movie. Well who knows, lots of Malaysians were craving over Wall-E, like me. Hehe. How do Australians enjoy life?

As I get bored waiting in the cinema, I snatched more photos. Just imagine yourself in the white line. Your right side, nothing, your left side, nothing … well Sherlyn was supposed to be there, but I don’t want her to be in the picture. I don’t know but the red seats are for couples, AND IT’S FREAKING BIG. As if you can have sex on it! Hahaha no other ideas here okay! I’m not interested in incest.

Oh there! Look, at least there is somebody in the screen. Now that’s three of us!

LOL! Anyways, Wall-E started and the number of people in the cinema increased. But there was a total of 10 people only. Hahaha! How was that for a movie? No kids laughing their ass off over everything.

After the VO2Max testing , the next thing I was tested was Cardiovascular Assessment.

Cardiovascular Assessment consists of many sequences to be completed. It started off with getting my blood sample using 21G butterfly needle (not that stupid needle you have in Boleh-Land which all the nurses use to miss the artery), but Michael missed my artery also. Bah, what can I expect from a student?

Anyways, my blood was taken to distinguish how much percentage of blood cells to the ratio of the plasma. As expected, I’m normal, blood 40:60 plasma if I’m not wrong. When that was done, I had to get on a machine, called Tanita Body Composition Analyzer. Like the name suggests, it analyzes my body and tells me every bit of information about it.

Well, that’s my body composition. Damn I’ve been playing basketball since year 7 of high school man, why isn’t there any changes? This pisses me off, Grr. But look at the bright side, my Body Mass Index (BMI) is only 21.7. According to wikipedia.org, 18 – 25 is normal, which means I’m right in the middle of it! Well that doens’t mean I’m healthy.

Look further down guys, I only store 10.7% of fat! Haha! My mum always tell me fat people get more disease. No offense to all the fat people out there, you all are wonderful peoples (LOL), you just need to cut down eating.

I had to do a bunch of sequence of tests from taking my blood pressure, my heart beat rate, vascular rate, everything … ask Michael.

There was a test, which was really weird. I was closed in a box and they used a vacuum cleaner to suck out all the air inside the box. In my body, I can literally feel that all my blood, Milo, bread and my shit in my intestines were pulled downwards to my feet! Man that was an unforgettable experience. You know what’s better? When the vacuum cleaner was turned off, I can literally feel all my blood, milo, bread and my shit all come right back up again. Now that’s something. Haha

I know my hair looks messy, don’t bother about it. It’s too expensive to cut here.

I don’t have any big complaints though, but being boxed inside the vacuum box was like chaining a dog with a 10cm chain. I can’t even move. What’s worse, the electric gone off right in the middle of the vacuum sucking test, imagine the feeling, with your shit going downwards then upwards again. Haha

Overall I just lied there for about 3 hours unable to move a muscle. And that’s tiring. Doing nothing is the hardest thing men can do. I almost fall asleep during some tests until I woke up to see my heart beating at 49 beats/sec. I thought I was going to die at that kind of heartbeat.

Cardiovascular Assessment 2 – Week 4

After 4 weeks of Cycling Exercise , I had to do a scheduled Cardiovascular Assessment again. This was the second time I did this and the same thing above happened. Except for that I was sleeping the whole test, sometimes Michael had to wake me up for the next test LOL (sorry Michael). And luckily there was no blackout, so shits were not altered the second time. Haha.

Surprisingly, I was asked to do a VO2Max testing again. I did not know that because it was not written in the timetable. The best thing was I am back as a normal person again! With 41 peak! I have improved my fitness level! Wohoo.

Anyways, I will get my test results maybe at the end of the year. I am looking forward to that!

Previous Tests: VO2Max & Weekly Cycling Exercise

In this test I was trained sort of like an athlete (but not the professional type). I had to do this training for 3 times a week for 4 consecutive weeks. Each training takes about 30 minutes of cycling NONSTOP.

Before I start doing anything, my weight and blood pressure was taken prior to the test. Then, I had to wear a heart beat regulator to monitor my heart beat.

Then off I go cycling. Stupid me did not do any stretching again at all and after 5 minutes of cycling at 70 RPM with 1.5 weight, I was out of breath. I can not stop as this testing has to be continuous for 30 minutes, so Michael lowered down the weight to 1.1.

At that time, I was just starting to slowly regain back my strength to cycle back to 70 WPM. Thanks to the power of our human mind, I kind of imagine myself running and scoring every basketball shots while cycling. Then it got better for another 10 minutes until I’m out again. Then Michael had to lower it down again.

In almost the entire course, I was just imagining about myself playing basketball, until I completed the whole test. So in other words, just say I was cheating myself. Haha

After all the cycling, my ass felt like it was going to break! Imagine the feeling … and my leg feels sour that I had difficulty even walking the stairs. Before I go, my weight and blood pressure was taken again. To my surprise I lost a total of 300-500 grams of water! Wow, how many percentage of fat I had lost ? Imagine if I had to do that for 12 times.

While waiting, I talked to Michael Goldberg about some of the details of the test. From there, I know how I fair with the other subjects. I noticed only 3 things, my VO2Max sucks, my arm’s vascular resistance and my leg’s vascular resistance which were obtained by the Cardiovascular Assessment is one of the best .

My VO2Max was poor, it’s only about 37.57 while the best subject there got about 50. Vascular resistance means the resistance of blood flow in your artery. Amazingly, I am one of the best to have lower vascular resistance compared to other subjects.

On a whole, this was a great test. I am very positive that my VO2Max testing will improve.
