Education is really a vital field, because almost everything in civilization depends upon education and learning. I saw that on a website someplace — a non-profit organization in the Philippines. Teachers strive at their craft (many of them, anyway). But there are a few who appear to have a gift to inspire. My high school world history teacher was one particular. She had lived in China as a child. When she taught in Rockville, Maryland, you could potentially feel the wisdom of all her experience. She didn’t have us memorize dates. That had been the first truly good thing I had heard from a history tutor. What she said next took the subject several magnitudes higher in value. She wanted us to understand the motivations of history — the deeply visceral, human aspects of what can somewhat be a deadly dry subject. Jaime Escalante of “Stand and Deliver” fame, dared to dream big. Calculus for the typically dropout crowd? Pushing them to go on to college? Wow. And I have this book called, “Calculus Made Easy,” by Sylvanus P. Thompson, first published in 1910. It’s been through many printings all to make a simple subject simple. What can we do to create more teachers who inspire world-changing quality? Einstein once testified that imagination is much more important than knowledge. Knowledge can give you the building blocks. Imagination may take you to the stars. Don’t our kids ought to get better?

Liked your comment on being “troublesome” citizens, and winning the issue by playing it creatively at their own game. Read a similar idea about this before from a website talking about the GoldRing.

Hehehe, maybe a dedicated band of teachers can group together and form a good quality private college offering quality technical education to students? Or give high quality private tuition to college/university students?

You make some good points here, however, there are some schools that are better than others when it comes to promoting teamwork, collaboration, and other elements that you said were missing from the education. I personally have been to UOP and found their online system quite resourceful and full of interaction. The one thing I do think is not good about our education is the cost of getting a education and the resources available for help.
