The Rising Singer Of The Rising Sun - Stephanie

Rated 8.5/10
I recently discovered a few new songs that touch people’s soul when listened. Even though it is Japanese and I have no idea what she’s singing, I have the feeling that my soul is in resonance with the tone of this girl’s voice and song. This girl is Stephanie and she is the rising sun of the Japanese singing industry.

A little bit of background of Stephanie:

DOB: August 5th, 1987 (1987-08-05)
Origin: Japan, USA

As you can see from the image, a 10 year old can tell she’s not pure Japanese. She has a Armenian-American father and a Japanese mother according to Wikipedia. From my point of view, being a mix enhances her singing ability. That’s why her songs are so unbelievable (She started Kimi ga iru kagiri with a whistle register which totally blow me off).

I first discovered her song when she sang the Ending of Gundam 00 First Season, “Friends”. In the same Single I found another much more mind blowing song called “Because of you”. It took me a years to realize her songs in my mp3 player.

Recently I youtubed a few new songs, “Kimi ga iru kagiri” and “Changin”. In Changin’ she is supposed to sing with a Japanese Singer, Tanaka Roma, however that wasn’t good because the guy’s voice is nowhere near Stephanie’s. As a result of that I found this, Stephanie’s solo of Changin’.

Unlike YUI, who sings the same style for almost all her songs, Stephanie sings different genres of songs. All of her songs which use whistle registers are superb. However, her “Winter Gold” is not as good, too plain and nothing special. Despite this, the songs she sang with whistle registers compensate for all the other songs.

The first debut of Stephanie’s album is in 2007. I don’t expect her to shoot up the charts in just 2 years. But given the time with her talent, I am sure that she will be one of the top singers in Japan. I know my rating wouldn’t matter to anybody, however I will still rate Stephanie. I rate her songs 8.5/10.

I sincerely hope that she will come out with more songs packed with more of her her beautiful registers. The only downturn for her songs is our own human nature that tends to get bored with the same thing we do/listen. Good songs always end up being thrown aside due to excessive boredom.

  1. Pretty cool songs, there are a few Japanese songs that I like to listen to… but they are only because they are from two different shows that I use to watch as a kid.

Even though I don’t know myself what she is saying… I too get a strong feeling from hearing her words and with the combination of the music, I just feel Awe struck by it all!
